该玉器整体呈黄白色，型如觥杯，器身表面浅浮雕云纹，纹眉向上竖，并往内钩，眉毛浅，若隐若现，柔中有刚,整件器物在规整中蕴含着一种非凡的气度，这是汉代艺术所共有的时代特征。螭是古代汉族传说中的一种龙。螭龙寓意美好，吉祥，也寓意男女的感情。《汉书·司马相如传上》：“于是蛟龙赤螭。”颜师古注：“文颖曰：‘龙子为螭。’张揖曰：‘赤螭，雌龙也。’如淳曰：‘蠄，山神也。’”《广雅》云：“有角曰虬，无角曰螭。”汉代是螭纹最鼎盛期，数量多，在许多玉器上都能见到。此外，玉螭纹已不见扭丝式尾和角，头形未见侧视状等也是此期的又一特征。
